Everything changed moving to the Dusk.
Connections to The Factory are better within the city itself, and as an ardent supporter, Larus' father brought them to Duskpoint. Making friends isn't quite so easy when the only one he cares about is far up north, but Larus acclimates quickly nonetheless. Life is much the same -- loud, drawn out, busy -- until they come under the protection of Audo aka "Sun". He's the first vampire Larus ever meets, and though his mother voices her distaste quite loudly, it doesn't keep Larus from falling into the shadows out of curiosity as well as the desire to protect his sister. Months pass before anything significant really happens, learning the true nature of The Factory. Then, Larus goes "missing" along with several others he'd become friends with though various means, and at the hands of Sun, he's turned.
It's slow—the torture. Many of the others are killed much quicker, and time becomes meaningless in the dark of the room he's locked in. Sun insists on feeding him their blood, though his human body can't tolerate the taste or the consistency, and so, for a while, Larus starves. Fear isn't the true motivator here, clinging to the hope that his sister is still safe, and though most of Sun's victims are always murdered in the daylight, Larus dies in the dark with the flavor of blood in his mouth. It's what he comes to know for years, purposely using his death as an escape so he can bring The Factory down through his own methods. The convenience that Egil brings when he relocates to the Dusk at his own father's insistence leaves him conflicted, and it's not until Jericho is assigned as Egil's bodyguard that Larus decides to move.
Larus fights to live. He fights for the people suffering under the tyranny of The Factory and the supernatural who can't escape their heavy influence. In this manner, he meets Casimir, and together, they form an odd relationship and their own crusade.
